Shanghai Port F.C has just secured a lucrative shirt sponsorship deal with online betting site GD6. The two parties have been in negotiations for the last six months and finally agreed on a contract that will see one of China’s most popular soccer teams wear GD6 logos on their shirts from now until 2024.
The deal includes shirt sponsorship, naming rights for one of their stadiums, and providing financial support to help develop the football club’s youth system in return for exclusive advertising rights on their social media channels.
“We are delighted that our brand has been given this opportunity to promote itself through football,” said GD6 Media Director Gary Lee. “Shanghai Port F.C is one of China’s most popular teams and we’re happy that our partnership can help them reach even more fans.”
Sun X iang, the Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Port F.C also commented on the deal, saying that “he looks forward with how it would help bring more international exposure to Asian football clubs.” The deal will allow Shanghai to be one of the first professional soccer teams in China to have an official betting partner.
The announcement comes after a period of uncertainty for the team as they were struggling to find a sponsor. During these difficult times, GD6 stepped up to offer their support and now hope that this will help them grow brand and sports betting awareness within China.
GD6 casino also plans on hosting an event with the club later in 2022 to celebrate the new partnership which will include signing autographs and interacting with fans at a meet-and-greet session.
